The CroMoly Front Rack 2.0 is expedition-quality front rack hardware built from the same material as the best steel bicycle frames, rated to 70 lbs, and designed to be welded back together by any competent welder in any country in the world if something ever goes wrong. Tubular Chromoly Steel - The Right Material for a Load-Bearing Rack
Aluminium racks are lighter. Chromoly steel racks are stronger, more fatigue-resistant under sustained load, and repairable in a way that aluminium never is. On a front rack that carries 30kg of panniers and cargo over thousands of kilometres of variable terrain, the material choice is not trivial. The CroMoly Front Rack 2.0 is phosphate coated inside and out, with a powder coated exterior - double protection against the corrosion that sustained wet-weather touring accelerates.

Version 2.0: Redesigned Lower Plates
The lower plates have been completely redesigned for version 2.0 - stronger geometry and increased clearance for disc brake calipers. A meaningful improvement over the original that makes the rack compatible with the full range of modern disc brake fork setups. Stainless steel and aluminium hardware throughout for corrosion resistance at every connection point.

Height Adjustable, Low Centre of Gravity
The rack is height adjustable, allowing you to keep loaded panniers as low as possible on the fork for the lowest possible centre of gravity. A low centre of gravity on a loaded front rack is the single most important factor in how the bike handles when loaded  the difference between a loaded bike that steers predictably and one that wanders. The Surly rack lets you optimise this rather than accepting a fixed position.

70 lb / 32kg Load Limit — Serious Carrying Capacity
Rated to 70 lbs - double the Salsa Wanderlust rear rack's limit and more than adequate for the most aggressively loaded front touring setup. Pannier support area of 121 cubic inches per side. Platform dimensions 230mm x 170mm - 9.05" x 6.69".

Fits 26" to 29" Wheels
Adjustable to fit 26", 27.5", 700C, and 29" wheel sizes - covers the full range of touring and gravel wheel standards. Compatible with most standard fork setups. Note: not compatible with 135mm or wider spaced forks.

Hardware Included - Reusable Surly Tool Bag
All stainless steel mounting hardware is included, stored in a reusable Surly Tool Bag. Hardware to retrofit to non-touring specific forks is included - front racks mount to forks with mid-blade eyelets approximately 165mm from the dropout. The Passage steel fork includes front rack eyelets as standard.
