      Evercoast Seymour Road

      $2,699.95

A road bike built the way road bikes were meant to be built.

The Seymour is Evercoast's dedicated road bicycle - a chromoly steel drop bar bike built for riding fast on pavement, finished with Shimano 105 mechanical shifting and rim brakes. Not because we could not put disc brakes on it. Because we chose not to.

      The Case for Rim Brakes
The cycling industry has spent the last decade convincing road riders that disc brakes are essential. For gravel, for mixed terrain, for eBikes, and for mountain bikes - that argument is sound. For a dedicated road bicycle ridden on pavement, it is worth examining more carefully.

Rim brakes are lighter. The system is simpler: less total mass, fewer components, no rotors, no hydraulic fluid, no bleeding. A lighter bike accelerates faster, climbs more efficiently, and is easier to live with. Rim brakes are also easier to service - cables and pads are universally available, adjustments are made with tools every mechanic already has, and the entire system is visible and accessible without removing wheels or hunting for bleed kits.

There is also a real-world handling argument that experienced road riders know well. Rim brakes modulate progressively and predictably - you can feel exactly how much braking force you are applying through the lever, which means skilled riders can carry more speed into corners and manage braking more precisely on descent. Hydraulic disc brakes on road bikes have introduced a new set of rider complaints - abrupt initial bite, pad rub, and in aggressive braking situations, a snap-to-lock behaviour that catches riders who are accustomed to a more progressive feel. The rim brake road bike never had this problem.

We built the Seymour with rim brakes because rim brakes are the correct choice for a dedicated pavement road bicycle. Full stop.

      Shimano 105 — The Benchmark
The Seymour ships with a complete Shimano 105 R7000 mechanical groupset - the standard against which every other mid-range road groupset is measured. Shimano 105 has been refined across generations into a groupset that is mechanically precise, globally supported, and indistinguishable in real-world use from the Ultegra it sits below. The mechanical lever feel is among the best in the industry - light, crisp, and consistent. The dual-pivot rim brake calipers are widely regarded as one of the high points of the R7000 generation - strong, modulated, and significantly better than the Tiagra they replace in the range.

2x11 speed gearing covers the full range of road riding - fast flat riding at the top of the cassette, meaningful climbing gears at the bottom, and a front derailleur that shifts cleanly between chainrings with a precision that mechanical 2x does better than any other system.

Chromoly Steel - The Road Material Revisited
Carbon fibre is the dominant material in road cycling at the performance end of the market. At the price points where most riders actually buy bikes, the story is less clear. Carbon at $3,000–$4,000 is a compromised layup built to a cost. Chromoly steel at the same price point is the correct material built correctly.

The Seymour's heat-treated, triple-butted 4130 chromoly frame absorbs road vibration progressively - reducing the fatigue that accumulates over a three or four hour road ride in a way that a stiff aluminium frame cannot. It is not soft or sluggish - triple-butted tube construction and precise geometry produce a frame that is responsive and direct under power while remaining genuinely comfortable over distance. Steel road bikes ridden by people who know what they are riding are consistently surprised by how quick they feel.

The frame is heat-treated after welding for consistent, long-lasting performance. It will outlast its components by decades if it is looked after. That is not a marketing claim - it is a material property.

A Road Bike That Makes Sense
Lighter than a disc brake equivalent. Simpler to maintain. Globally serviceable with tools any shop already has. Built on a material that rides well and lasts. Finished with the most trusted mid-range road groupset available. The Seymour is not a throwback or a nostalgia exercise - it is a considered choice made by a shop that has thought carefully about what a road bicycle in 2025 should actually be.

      Built and Certified in Vancouver
Every Seymour is assembled by hand at 1737 Fir Street and put through the Evercoast 50-Point Technical Certification before it leaves. Frame alignment verified. Every bearing surface greased. Every bolt torqued to specification. Then ridden before it goes out the door.
