Kenda K1270 Cursor 26x4.0 Fat Bike Tire
The fat bike tire built for the city. Fast, quiet, and at home on pavement.
The Kenda Cursor answers a question that every fat eBike commuter eventually asks: why am I running an aggressive knobby tyre on asphalt every day? The Juggernaut and its trail-oriented cousins were designed for loose dirt, sand, and snow — the knobby tread that gives traction off-road creates noise, rolling resistance, and unnecessary wear on paved surfaces. The K1270 Cursor is the urban alternative — a semi-slick center strip that rolls fast and quietly on pavement, paired with knurled side knobs that provide confident cornering grip when the bike leans. An ideal tire for cruising the street, hitting the eBike path, or getting through traffic.
Riders who switched from knobby fat bike tires to the Cursor consistently report the same thing: the bike becomes noticeably quieter, faster on pavement, and more comfortable to ride daily. One rider described it as switching from a freight train to silent running. For a RadRover or comparable fat eBike used primarily on Vancouver's bike paths, the Seawall, and urban commuting routes, the Cursor is the more appropriate tire choice.
Semi-Slick Centre — Fast and Silent on Pavement
The smooth center strip runs the full width of the tread contact patch, keeping rolling resistance low and eliminating the road noise that aggressive knobs generate on asphalt. Fat bike tires already produce more rolling resistance than narrower tires by virtue of their size — there is no reason to add the additional noise and resistance of knobs that will never engage on a paved surface. The Cursor's smooth center rolls the way a fat tire should on street.
Knurled Side Knobs — Cornering Confidence
Micro-knurled shoulder knobs provide grip and stability when the bike corners and leans. The knurling pattern bites into the road surface at lean angles without the height and spacing of off-road knobs — precise, confident, and quiet. This is the design that makes the Cursor an urban tire rather than a slick: it rolls fast in a straight line and grips reliably in corners.
Large Air Volume — Fat Bike Comfort
The 4.0" casing retains the fundamental advantage of the fat bike format — a large air volume that absorbs road vibration and surface irregularities at relatively low pressures. Vancouver's combination of expansion joints, patched pavement, and rough bike lanes is well suited to a fat tire run at 10–15 PSI. The Cursor delivers that compliance without the noise and drag penalty of an off-road tread pattern.
30 TPI Wire Bead — Durable and Affordable
30 TPI is a straightforward, durable casing specification well suited to daily urban use where the tire sees consistent mileage on hard surfaces rather than the flex and impact of trail riding. Wire bead construction is reliable, easy to mount, and resistant to bead damage during installation. A clincher tire designed for use with a standard fat bike inner tube — not tubeless compatible.
Available With or Without Reflective Sidewall
The K1270 Cursor is available with optional reflective sidewall tape — visible to drivers when headlights illuminate the tire from the side. For a daily commuter eBike used in early mornings or after dark, sidewall reflectivity is a practical safety feature. Ask at the workshop which version you have in stock.
The Commuter Upgrade Story
The K1270 Cursor is the natural upgrade for RadRover owners and fat eBike commuters who have outgrown their stock knobby tires for daily city use. If your riding is 80% pavement and 20% gravel path, the Cursor is the correct tire. If your riding is 80% trail and 20% road, stay with the Juggernaut. If you want puncture protection for urban commuting, consider the Schwalbe Big Ben Plus — also in stock — which adds a SmartGuard puncture protection belt to a similar semi-slick urban fat tire profile.

Compatibility Notes
Rim width: 26x4.0 fits standard fat bike rims in the 65–90mm internal width range. Confirm rim width before ordering.
Inner tube required: not tubeless compatible. A 26x4.0 fat bike inner tube is required and sold separately — ask at the workshop.
RadRover compatibility: direct replacement size for RadRover and comparable fat eBike models running 26x4.0 tires. Confirm your wheel size before ordering as newer fat eBike models may differ.
Juggernaut vs Cursor — if you primarily ride trails, sand, or snow, the Kenda K1151 Juggernaut Sport is the correct tire. If you primarily ride pavement and bike paths, the Cursor is the better choice. Ask us and we will help you decide.
