The XGlide features a special plate design for wider cog teeth that enables instant shifts and efficient gear harmonization, providing smooth and decisive shifting performance.

Special Plate Design for LinkGlide Cogs LinkGlide systems use wider cog teeth than standard Shimano drivetrains — the XGlide's plate geometry is specifically shaped to engage with these wider teeth for the smooth, consistent shifting that LinkGlide is designed to deliver. Running a standard X-Series chain on a LinkGlide drivetrain will compromise shifting performance and accelerate wear on both the chain and the cassette.
