Velo Orange Constructeur Front Rack

The Constructeur is the smaller, lighter sibling of the Porteur. Where the Porteur is built for serious cargo loads and wide platform carrying, the Constructeur is the elegant solution for riders who want a front rack for a handlebar bag, a small dry bag, or a basket without the bulk and weight of a full-size porteur platform. It takes its name and inspiration from the French bicycle constructeur tradition, where beautiful, functional racks were built as integrated parts of the bicycle rather than afterthoughts bolted on at the end.

Polished Stainless Steel. Never Rusts. Can Be Re-Polished.
Like all Velo Orange racks, the Constructeur is made from polished tubular stainless steel. It will never rust like painted steel racks and will not fatigue or crack like aluminium racks under sustained load. If the polish dulls over years of use it can be brought back to a mirror shine with standard metal polish. The quality is genuinely superior to many custom racks, and the material is the reason these racks are bought once and kept indefinitely.

Medium Platform. Compact and Purposeful.
The platform measures 20cm long by 10cm wide with a 9.5cm tombstone backstop that prevents loads from sliding forward. The right size for a handlebar bag sitting cleanly on the front of the bike, a tied-down dry bag for bikepacking, or a small basket for urban carrying. Side eyelets on the platform provide mounting points for a front light or reflective accessories, keeping the light positioned low and forward without a separate mount cluttering the handlebar.

Dropout Eyelet Mount. Simple Installation.
The Constructeur attaches primarily to the fork dropout eyelets, with the rear tang attaching to the fender boss under the fork crown, the included fork crown daruma, or bent up to attach to the brake bolt. Three holes in the lower tang allow it to be trimmed for a cleaner installation on bikes where the standard length is longer than needed. A long rack strut for attaching to the fork crown is included.

Compatible with the Evercoast Passage and Passage Pro.
Both the Passage and Passage Pro steel forks include front-facing dropout eyelets at the axle and a fork crown attachment point, making them fully compatible with the Constructeur. On the Passage Pro, the flat mount disc caliper sits on the trailing face of the fork leg while the rack struts attach to the front-facing dropout eyelets, so the two do not conflict. Fitment on the Passage is equally straightforward. We stock and install the Constructeur at the workshop and can confirm clearance for your specific build before you order.

Where the Porteur is the correct choice for riders building a fully loaded front and rear touring setup, the Constructeur is the correct choice for the Passage Touring rider who wants a front rack for a handlebar bag or small cargo load without the width and weight of the Porteur platform. At 425g it adds almost nothing to the bike while providing a stable, elegant platform up front.
