The Velo Orange Model 3 is a high-quality vegetable-tanned leather touring saddle designed for the sweet spot of bicycle fit — where the saddle and handlebars sit on an even plane. There is no saddle quite like your own leather saddle. High-quality leather is a living material that breathes, yields, and evolves. Over the first few hundred miles the leather begins to learn your specific anatomy, stretching and softening exactly where you need it to. The result is a custom-moulded fit that no foam or gel saddle can replicate — a saddle that is uniquely yours and only improves with age and care. Riders who have made the transition from foam saddles to leather consistently describe the same experience: the saddle eventually disappears beneath them.

Pebbled Leather Surface. Not Slippery.
The Model 3 uses a textured pebbled leather surface rather than smooth leather — a meaningful practical detail. Smooth leather saddles can feel slippery under certain riding conditions, particularly when wet. The pebbled texture provides enough surface grip to keep you positioned correctly without the saddle feeling abrasive. It also adds character to the leather surface and hides minor surface wear more gracefully than smooth leather.

Hammered Rivets with Copper Inserts. Built for the Long Haul.
The rear frame uses hammered rivets anchored with copper inserts — a mechanical bond designed to handle the high tension of the leather as it breaks in, ensuring the cover stays secure through years of sun, rain, and sweat. This is not a nod to classic aesthetics for its own sake. It is a construction method that resists the lateral forces that leather under tension places on the saddle frame over years of riding. The aprons are tied at the midsection to prevent splaying — a detail that keeps the saddle shape consistent as the leather softens and moulds over time.

Extra-Long Chrome-Plated Steel Rails. More Adjustment Range.
The Model 3 rails are approximately 10mm longer than comparable leather saddles including the Brooks B17, giving more fore and aft adjustment range. This is particularly relevant for steeper-angled frames or riders who need significant saddle setback or nose-forward position to dial in their fit. The additional rail length accommodates riders who find the short rail of some leather saddles limits their ability to achieve correct position without a heavily offset seatpost.

Removable Saddle Loops Included.
Saddle bag loops are included — the eyelets at the rear of the saddle that accept traditional leather saddle bags for tool and tube storage on touring and commuter builds. Removable when not needed and included for when they are. Compatible with VO and most traditional saddle bags.
