Velo Orange Snakeskin Fenders, 700c x 50mm

The fender for riders who want their rain gear to be the most interesting thing on the bike. The Velo Orange Snakeskin is a highly polished aluminium fender with a pressed snakeskin scale pattern across its full surface — a texture that is both visually striking and structurally useful, adding rigidity to the aluminium panel while creating a surface that catches light in a way a smooth fender simply cannot. One reviewer described it as adding 1,000 hit points to your ride immediately upon installation. Another called it cool and so 80s, which is accurate and not meant as a criticism. This is a fender with character and it knows it.

Pressed Snakeskin Pattern. Highly Polished.
The snakeskin scale texture is pressed into the aluminium during manufacturing and then polished to a high shine — the raised scales reflect light differently across the surface, giving the fender depth and visual interest that changes depending on the angle and the light. On a chromoly steel build with a polished silver cockpit and a Brooks leather saddle, the Snakeskin is the fender that makes the whole build look deliberate from ten metres away.

50mm Wide. Fits Tires Up to 42mm.
The 50mm width sits between the Hammered 45mm and the Zeppelin 52mm — wide enough to accommodate 40C gravel tires on the Passage build with adequate clearance, narrower in profile than the Zeppelin for a slightly more refined look. One reviewer confirmed a clean fit over 700x40C tires after pushing to 43C and finding the limit. For Passage builds running CST Tirent or Maxxis Rambler 40C tires this is the correct width.

Velo Orange designs the Snakeskin for full coverage across the full arc of a 700c wheel. The rear fender at 120cm and front at 90cm are long enough to genuinely keep you and your drivetrain clean in sustained Vancouver rain rather than just covering the top of the tire. Both fenders are pre-drilled for stays and the front is pre-drilled for a fork crown mount.

Lightweight Aluminium Alloy Construction.
The same lightweight aluminium alloy construction used across the VO fender range. The pressed snakeskin texture adds structural rigidity to the panel beyond what a flat sheet of the same thickness would provide, which is one of the practical benefits of a textured surface beyond the visual.

Complete Hardware Kit Included.
Polished aluminium stays in 5mm diameter, R-clips and screws, L bracket, reinforcement plates, stay-to-fender closed eyelet bolts, fork crown daruma, sliding bracket, leather washers, and detailed installation instructions. Hardware is finish-matched to the fender. Both fenders are pre-drilled for additional eyelet bolts for increased stability.
